Day 1 – Golden Circle
We start from Reykjavik and go along the most famous route of Iceland – the Golden ring:
Geothermal geyser zone-there are dozens of colourful bubbling hot springs and two geysers. The same Geyser that gave the name to all the geysers in the world-Yes, geyser is an Icelandic word-is now dormant and almost never erupts. Another geyser is Strokkur and erupts every 5-10 minutes.
Gullfoss waterfall-water from the glacial river Hvítá rushes down two tiers 32 meters high. The Golden ring got its name from Gullfoss, which means Golden waterfall. On a Sunny day, you can see the rainbow above the waterfall and the Langjökull glacier on the horizon.
Traditional dairy farm and ice cream. We will visit Efstidalur farm, which has been owned by one family since 1850. The farm specializes in raising cows and other livestock. You can try and buy their delicious natural dairy products. Walk around the farm, enjoy the stunning mountain views and pet the cute farm animals.
Thingvellir national Park. Where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates touch each other. The largest natural lake in Iceland is also located in the Thingvellir National Park, home to many species of fish and birds. Tingvellir has an amazing cultural heritage, as the first Parliament of Iceland-Altingi was founded here in 930. The name “Thingvellir” translates as “Parliamentary plains”. This place is a UNESCO world heritage site.
This day is filled with stunning and unforgettable beauty and impressions. After the Park, we will take you to the hotel, where you will rest and be ready for the next day of your trip.
Optional: Horse back riding
Day 2 – South Shore
Seljalandsfoss waterfall – this waterfall is 65 meters high. This stunning waterfall is one of the highest in Iceland. There is a path right behind the water flows, you can go around the waterfall from the inside. It’s an exciting sight. Take a raincoat with you) 500 meters to the North-West there is another very beautiful “secret” waterfall Gljúfrabúi), it is located inside a canyon. To get to the waterfall, you will have to go along the riverbed, jumping from stone to stone. Your reward will be an amazing waterfall and great photos!
Skógafoss waterfall is one of the largest waterfalls in the country with a width of 25 meters and a height of 60 meters. On Sunny days, you can see one or two rainbows because of the spray. Climbing the stairs next to the gorge, you will get to a special area above the top of the waterfall-from here you can enjoy a stunning view.
Reynisfjara, the black sand beach is a mysterious place with volcanic sand from black gravel. As a result of the impact of sea water on the coastal rocks there were amazing formations of the same black as pitch color-these are boulders and columns. Black basalt columns are called “Reynisdrangar”. They stand among the waters of the North Atlantic, also called “Troll Fingers”.
Day 3 – Glacial Lagoon
Jökulsarlón glacial lagoon with a depth of 200 m, where parts of Vatnajökull brakes into pieces and drifts on the lagoon and slowly drifts towards the sea. Take a walk along the glacial lagoon and enjoy the stunning views or have a boat tour.
Diamond beach. On the other side of the road, the Diamond beach, icebergs from the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon drift to the ocean, where winds and the force of the tide throw them ashore. The black sandy beach is full of large and small ice stones of all shapes and sizes, sparkling like diamonds, contrasting strongly with the black volcanic sand.
Hiking on glaciers and in ice caves is possible at extra cost and only with the help of a certified guide and special equipment to ensure Your safety. Your guide will guide you through the unique ice and share your knowledge of the glacier. These amazing impressions will remain with You for the rest of your life. And, of course, you will make great photos)
