The cinematic landscapes of the Þórsmörk valley is sheltered on both sides by gigantic glaciers, offering panoramic views and welcoming conditions. This dazzling destination takes its name from Thor, the Viking God of Thunder. On our way there from the Ring Road, you’ll cross raging rivers, gushing down from the glaciers. There we will see the aftermath of the massive fast flowing flood, caused by the eruption of Eyjafjallajökull in April 2010.

Then we will proceed to the scenic canyon of Stakkholtsgjá and its a amazing waterfall where we will go for a hike, if time and mood allows. Þórsmörk is one of the most popular hiking area in the country and standing on top of its hills and mountains is breathtaking. Visitors cannot fail to be in awe of the raw power of nature and the beauty. On the way back from Þórsmörk we make a stop at the stunning Seljalandsfoss.

Other stops on this tour:

✓ Seljalandsfoss – This waterfall of the river Seljalandsá drops 60 meters over the cliffs of the former coastline. It is possible to walk behind the waterfall. 500 meters to the North West there is a another beautiful waterfall.

✓ Gljúfrabúi – Gljúfrabúi is 40 meters high and partially hidden behind a large cliff which gives it a mystical aura. It can be seen in all it’s splendour by wading the river into a narrow opening in the cliff or by climbing a steep path up the cliff. Both acts can be hazardous so please exercise extreme caution.
