Frequently Asked Questons for Friend in Iceland Tours

When can we see the northern lights?

The northern lights are most visible during the winter months, typically from October to April. However, the best chances of witnessing this breathtaking phenomenon are from December to February. This is because in order for the northern lights to be visible, it has to be dark outside.

We offer two insurance packages: the medium package insurance and the premium package insurance. The medium package includes a $900 liability in case of any incidents, while the premium package covers everything except the bottom of the car and the side windows, providing you with no liability. As gravel on the roads can cause damage, we strongly recommend opting for the premium insurance package. If you already have your own insurance, additional insurance may not be necessary. However, please note that some customers have experienced delays in insurance payouts.

What kind of car do I need to drive around Iceland?

For most Icelandic roads, a regular vehicle is sufficient, with the size depending on the number of people sharing the car. However, some specific areas like the highlands and certain gravel roads throughout the country and the Westfjords require a 4×4 car. For popular trips such as the Golden Circle, Snæfellsnes Peninsula, South Coast, and the Ring Road (Road 1), a 4×4 is generally unnecessary.
